This tree stood out, silhouetted in the mist, as it appeared small yet mighty against its neighbouring trees. The sun was directly above, shining its diffused rays directly down upon the woods beyond reminding me of how expansive and unnoticed the sky is and how small the world can appear beneath it.
I wanted to capture the chaotic clutter of my local woodland, to provide a small glimpse of the tangled and expansive wood. Capturing the essence of a woodland can often be difficult. The thing that catches our eye the most often eludes us in the image as it is lost within the clutter of the surrounding undergrowth. Autumn is a special time though, the leaves begin to change colour and then diversity is born from what was once all green.
